There are many reasons for celebrations in every society and people celebrate in many different ways
Celebrations play an important part in every society and there are many reason for celebations such as birthdays, weddings, religious holidays.
Australia is a multicultural society. That means there are several groups with different cultures living in Australia and as a result different cultures celebrate different events in different ways.
There are many different types of celebrations which include family, religious, cultural and society's celebrations.
Family celebrations include birthdays and wedding. These are important to the families and immediate friends involved. Family celebrations may be intertwined with cultural traditions such as at Greek weddings, everyone dances the 'kalamantiano'. Plates are smashed for good luck!
As Australia is a multicultural society there are many different religions and as a result there are many religious celebrations within Australia. Christian faith celebrate Christmas and Easter however different denominations have there own separate celebrations such as Roman Catholic celebrate Ash Wednesday which is the start of Lent. Whereas Jewish people celebrate different holidays including Pesach - Passover and Chanukah – Festival of Lights.
As a result of so many different cultural and religious holidays within Australia, the Australian Government have put out a calendar to raise awareness of key cultural and religious events, festivals and national days. Calendar of Cultural and Religious Dates
Cultural celebrations are important to an individual culture such as St Patrick's Day in Ireland and Independence or National days to a culture/country.
Within the Australian Indigenous culture, which varies according to location, celebrate events that have spiritual importance to them. These include birth, initiation, death and events that are based on seasons. Songs, dances and body decoration are also included. Stories of the Dreaming are also included.
Australian society have many celebrations that are individual to Australia. These celebration can be celebrated at a family or whole society level. Celebrations within Australia include ANZAC Day, Australia Day, New Year's Day, Labour Day, etc.
Ok I have thought about what I want to put on my page... and I have decided to put stuff up about SUMMER because I LOVE summer
This year I plan to do my first ocean swim which is very exciting and nerve racking. So i have decided to put up this video
Whilst I don't actually watch theshow, the song is really cool, it has the beach and really fit guys... what's not to love?
And for some comic relief...

I really like picture on the right, as Summer is all about relaxing and reading a book on the beach in the sun (with sun cream on as I burn really easily)
